It is Spring in the stores, and if it ain’t nautical, it is a ruffle. Sometimes it is both!

I love this cardigan from Gap for Spring 2009. Has a great ruffle down the front, and is available in 3 color combos!

erez2J. Crew has really commited to the ruffle for Spring 2009.

I love both the woven shirts above as a great feminine update for the buttondown shirt for women!

While not technically a ruffle, still a great texture at the neckline from J. Crew for Spring 2009.

erez3I love this pleated vee neck knit top from J. Crew for Spring 2009. I think the bowed handbag is fabu as well, but is not pictured on the website, so may not have made it into production for Spring 2009.

erez6This bowed satin clutch is available in 5 colors from J. Crew for Spring 2009, so snap it up! Great pop of color for evening and that little black dress (LBD)!

SWEATERS, SPRING 2009 January 27, 2009

I know, I know…………sweaters for Spring? Pourquoi?

Well, as we all know Resort/ Spring drops into the stores in the dead of winter, adding that little touch of surrealness to all our lives. As we slog through the ice and snow, the stores look like a garden exploded in a riot of colors and lighter fabrics then the temperatures suggest to be reasonable!

Since there is very little chance that the fashion world will change to a “wear now” reality, I say embrace the bright!

I love this cheerful cardigan from Gap for Spring 2009. It comes in 16 colors, so I am sure you can find a color that makes you happy! I love the 3-button detail at the cuffs…………

gp635772-02p01v01Embrace the ruffle! Another great cardigan from Gap for Spring 2009.

I love the girly look of this sweater, very funky Chanel-esque sweater. Available in a great navy and white nautical color combo, which is very traditional for this time of year.

I love this sweater set from Marni for Spring 2009. The polka dot jacquard vee neck sweater is great on its’ own, but I do love the layering of the seafoam/ lavender crew cardigan over the veeneck. There is a great photo of this look on Chanel Iman in the January 2009 Vogue as well!

Available at Marni boutiques.

0347_6884_495I love this boyfriend vee cardi from American Eagle Outfitters for Spring 2009. The stitch is this great garter stitch, which makes it a tad more special than the average cardi. Also, love the 5/8 sleeve. No need to push up your sleeves!

It is available in 2 colors, and is already on sale, so move quick!

the costumes of the Curious Case of Benjamin Button January 4, 2009

Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett in the Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett in the Curious Case of Benjamin Button

I just saw the movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Button by David Fincher.

The film, starring Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett, Taraji P. Henson, Tilda Swinton, and Mahershalalhashbaz Ali, has the most glorious costumes. The costume designer is Jacqueline West, and she has created the most gorgeous costumes for this film. Admittedly, with actresses such as Cate Blanchett and Tilda Swinton, it is hard to make a misstep as they seem made for clothing.

The red dress as seen above and below is just stunning. Daisy, the character played by Cate Blanchett, is a dancer and is always shod in ballet slippers. Hopefully, that will perpetuate the trend of ballet slippers that we have been seeing in fashion for the last year and a half!

The costumes for Tilda Swinton, who plays a British diplomat’s wife in Russia, are just striking. I am still seeking photos of some of my favorite costumes, and hope to post them soon.

Alexander Wang onesie for resort January 3, 2009

Alexander Wang Resort 2009 onesie

Alexander Wang Resort 2009 onesie

I just love this image!

Alexander Wang is a young New York City women’s designer who is incredibly talented. As an alumni of Parsons, he has embodied the girls-just-want-to-have-fun vibe that is so lacking in so many collections!

I know, you are asking yourself “where can I wear this?”. And I would counter with, that is not the point. A designer’s vision is their own. Yes, they have a responsibility to create wearable clothing, but they also have a responsibility to create a fantasy on the runway.

Anthology necklace from Links of London

Links of  London is a British-based design company, founded in 1990. They have made this incredible necklace as part of their Anthology collection.  Usually, I would not post something this expensive, but it is just so stunning I think it should be viewed as a piece of art, not as something you must purchase!

in New York last year. I bought one of her bags in orange corduroy, and it is still my go-to bag for Fall and Winter.
